Blog Tour: The Other C Word by MK Schiller

Synopsis:

Marley Mason is dreading the arrival of the new business consultant. After all, this man will most likely outsource her job to China. The last thing she would expect is a case of mistaken identity, leading to false accusations of kidnapping when she attempts to pick up the wrong man at the airport, or worse…that she would have such a visceral reaction to the right man.

Rick Randy is super sexy, scandalously flirty and perfect masturbation material, but a relationship is out of the question. Rick is contracted on a temporary basis to fix Marley’s ailing company, then pull out, although as he expresses to Marley, pulling out is difficult for him, in more ways than one! Marley’s feelings range from utter confusion to intense contemplation as Rick charms his way into her life. All of those C-words Marley can control, but it’s the other C-word she fears—commitment.(

Review:

Oh My!! I have a new book boyfriend, RICK!  Hot in and out of a business suit, just enough of alpha male to get your heart beating, but oh so sweet!!

Rick is a new temporary consultant at the company Marley works for and she is assigned to be his assistant.  Their first meeting, when she picks him up at the airport, is hysterical!  Honestly I was laughing so hard I was crying! Marley is just forever getting herself mixed up in these crazy situations!

Marley has a horrific incident in her past and she has sworn off relationships (COMMITMENT is not in her vocabulary).  Instead she has a "rotation" of a few guys that she hooks up with casually.  Rick is a relationship guy (commitment is NOT a 4 letter word for him).  However, they can't stay away from each other and initially agree to a C-word free temporary arrangement.

But slowly Rick starts to break through Marley's walls, and eventually a real relationship develops.   I loved the connection these two shared.  It was HOT as well as sweet,  a combination you just don't see often enough. And at times laugh out loud funny!  Even before they got together, you could see he cared for her and the scene where he sidetracked her "date" at the bar and also erased all the guys in her phone contact list was hysterical.  Although there were a lot of lighthearted and funny scenes, the ones surrounding Marley's past were so emotional and heartbreaking.
This book was just sooo well written. Ms. Schiller was able to have you laughing one minute, crying the next, all with seamless perfection.

I just loved watching Marley slowly let Rick in and start to see how wonderful a true relationship could be, and it killed me when she pushed him away.  Rick just wanted to stand by her and help however he could and Marley takes that as him wanting to fix her.  I was shaking my ereader wishing I could shake sense into her!!

Her family dynamics was also a delightful aside in the book.  All the characters were developed well and added another layer of fun and a little drama to the storyline.

A great, great read!  - Tynna

“Well, he’s here. I have to go,” I announced, getting up. Rick clasped my arm.

“Marley, he’s not wearing a helmet,” Rick said.
“So?”
“That’s fine if he’s not going to wear a helmet, but does he have one for you?” The question surprised me, and my mouth went dry. I couldn’t find the answer. ‘None of your business’ seemed cruel, when he looked so concerned. At the same time, I just wanted to leave.
“Nope, he doesn’t believe in them,” Dillon answered for me. I suddenly wanted to snatch the perfect brown curls right out of Dillon’s head.
“Tell him to come in here,” Rick commanded with a slow, ominous voice that almost scared me.
“Why?” I demanded, pulling my arm out of his grasp.
“Because I want to meet him, and that’s the appropriate way to pick up a lady when you’re taking her out on a date.”
God help me! I almost said ‘I’m not a lady’, but luckily, some inner sense of self-control stopped me from uttering that embarrassing statement. Instead, I said, “It’s not a date.” That wasn’t much better.
“Whatever it is, I want to meet him,” Rick insisted.
“It’s not prerequisite of our working relationship that you need to meet him,” I retorted.
“That’s true,” he said nonchalantly. I grabbed my purse, attempting to make a hasty exit. “Call me when the police pick you up. I’ll be giving you a ride sooner than I thought.”
I halted in my tracks. “What are you talking about?” I demanded.
“It’s illegal to ride without a helmet. It’s my duty as a citizen to report you. They’ll probably confiscate his bike, and you’ll need a ride.”
I laughed, but it came out like a hysterical shriek. Rick’s face remained impassive, except for the vein that throbbed on his neck. Dillon looked like he was ready to high-five Rick, infuriating me further. Dillon was my best friend, why was he on Rick’s side?
“You… You can’t do that,” I stammered.
“Then ask him inside.” Rick and I stared at each other in an awkward standoff for several minutes. His face was completely serious—hard, unyielding and commanding. I tried to mimic his expression, but I knew I was failing miserably.
I finally brought my face close to his and whispered in a low voice so only he could hear, “He doesn’t want to come inside. He’s waiting for me out there because he’s going to take me to his place and fuck the hell out of me for the next twenty-five minutes and bring me right back here, so you can just back out of my business right now.”
I pulled away, expecting shock, disgust—even dismissal—but instead Rick gave a tight smile. It wasn’t a happy one. It was as if he was holding back his anger. The throbbing vein in his neck became more prominent. “He only lasts twenty-five minutes? You don’t have very high standards, Marley.”

Author Bio:

This is my debut novel, and I’m thrilled to share it with you.  I describe myself as a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. By day, I don a magic cape, calculator (sometimes an abacus), and an assortment of gel pens for my work in the world of finance. But by night, I sit by the warm glow of my computer monitor, and think of stories that will warm the heart, and cheer the soul.

There is nothing better than the intimate journey and ultimate satisfaction that only a swoon-worthy romance can provide, especially if there are a few laughs along the way.  Although writing is my passion, I am a reader first and enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book and some tasty Italian (the food, of course!). I hope you will enjoy my work and please drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.

Excerpt

He leans down, and his lips are on mine before I can protest. My mouth opens as a strangled gasp leaves it. My body flinches, and a flood of warmth travels through my veins, making my entire body feel like it’s on fire. I shudder as he presses his mouth harder against mine. His lips are soft and full, his body large and firm as he presses himself against me. My hands are limp beside me, I can’t move, I’m like a rag doll in his arms. His tongue finds mine, and fireworks explode in my head, I’m almost sure I see stars. Then suddenly, my hands come to life and I thrust them into his hair, tugging him closer. My mouth is devouring his, my tongue dancing with his in hungry, angry strokes. He growls and presses a hand to my lower back, pressing my body up against his hard, aching erection. I untangle one of my hands from his hair, and run it down his firm back. I slip it under his shirt, and feel his hot, hard skin. It’s taut, and his muscles bunch as I slide my fingers up, feeling every inch of his muscled flesh. Then his mouth is off mine, and I’m stumbling backwards. He’s reeling backwards just as quickly, his eyes confused. He’s panting so heavily I can see his chest rising and falling rapidly. His eyes are wild, like he’s just made a huge mistake. I press my fingers to my swollen lips, did that just happen? Did Spike just…kiss me? I’ve never been kissed like that in my entire life, not once. That kiss, it was a kiss of passion. It was real, beautiful, gut wrenching, soul shattering…but mostly, it was mind blowing. What did it mean?

Book Blitz: A Lucky Second Chance by Nickie Seidler

Synopsis:

What do you do when life doesn't go as planned?

Nobody plans to be abused. Emma Dunn certainly didn't. Life is slowly getting better for Emma, thanks in no small part to real-life Prince Charming, Nathan Weber. He sweeps her off her feet, almost literally, and dotes on her from day one.

But when the unexpected happens and their pasts catch up with them, can their fairy tale still have a happy ending? Even the strongest can break. Love has the power to consume, but it also has the power to break. Will her past prevent her from moving on with her future or will it come back and ruin everything she's worked so hard to forget….

A Lucky Second Chance takes you on a journey of self discovery, while providing plenty of twists, intrigue and an intense love, that will capture your heart.

Review:

This book begins by following Emma's escape from a physical and emotionally abusive relationship with her ex-fiance Jason.  She moves back home to Chicago to be near her family, but especially her brother Kevin.  Emma begins a new life and a new job.  Little does she know that the man of her dreams is about to 'bump' into her and change her life forever!

Nate is everything that Emma ever wanted in a man.  But is he too good to be true?  Can she put her past abusive relationship to rest in order to move forward with Nate? "...nobody deserves to get hurt and beaten, especially by someone you trusted...you came back to safety and started a new beginning for yourself.  You've created your own second chances."

Nate has his own past that must be dealt with.  Can Emma and Nate overcome all of the obstacles that are thrown their way on the path to true love?  Nickie Seidler has delivered a true romance novel.  I felt a quick connection to the characters, but felt at times that the story jumped around a bit.  I do have to admit that I would love to have Nickie Seidler write Emma's brother Kevin's story!

"This just proved to me that anybody could have anything in life; you just need a lucky second chance." - Kelly

Mine by Scarlett Metal

Synopsis:
Alexandra opened her heart and let herself be vulnerable to Paul. The walls around Paul's heart were torn down by the feisty Alex. Both of them are happier than they've been in a long time.

Paul's ex-wife comes to town and turns their life upside down with news that shakes Paul to the core, making him question everything he's ever done. Will Alex be reminded of why she’s never trusted anyone and leave? Can Paul show Alex that she's the only one for him before it's too late? Or will someone else from their past destroy them beyond repair?

Review:

WOW!!! This book snuck up on me and just BLEW ME AWAY.  Yes, it is short.  BUT... filled with drama, hot sex, twists and turns.  I loved it!  I am totally hooked on Paul and Alex now and cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next! This is the second book in the series, Naughty Girl is book one, also short, but a good idea to read first to get the background of the characters.

Paul and Alex both are not interested in commitment, i.e. marriage, so they think they are perfect for each other for a relationship that has an eventual end.  However, they are each other's end and are finally beginning to, slowly, realize that!  I just love them together.  They are perfect!  Paul is a hot controlling Dom and Alex is a sweet, stubborn, independent woman who is the perfect submissive in the bedroom.  I honestly loved that their Dom/Sub relationship mostly stayed in the bedroom.  But their love was all the time.  I loved their characters, and loved the supporting characters.  Just enough drama to keep you on your toes, tons of HOT sex, and such a well developed storyline in a small amount of time.  LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!

Great supporting characters too and I'm already dying to know what is going on with Max. Please tell me he is going to be getting his own book?!!!

Although short, this book had everything you could want and more.  Very eagerly awaiting to find out what happens next!!!-Tynna

Excerpt #1 – First Chapter
He slams me against the door, his lips meeting mine urgently. His hands search my body and I wrap my right leg up around his, moving my dress higher up my thighs.
His lips move to my tear-stricken cheeks, where lines of mascara still cover them. He makes his way to my neck and then my ear, lightly nibbling around my earlobe and I know at that moment, I need this.
“Make me forget,” I whisper.
“Oh believe me, you will forget your name when I’m done with you,” he says, grabbing my ass, forcing my legs to wrap around his torso.
He carries me across the room, his lips on mine, thrusting his tongue deeper in my mouth with every step. My arms are tight against him, keeping him close. The feeling of safety is what I crave.
He throws me on the bed, our eyes never leaving one another. Pulling on my legs, he brings me to the edge of the bed and takes off my heels. His hands inch up my legs until his fingers are wrapped around each side of my black thong. He slides it down my legs, tossing the tiny piece of material onto the floor before returning to push my dress up, exposing me to him. I hear the breath hitch in his throat before he starts unzipping his dress slacks and pushing them down. He shuffles over to the nightstand and seconds later, he is on top of me.
“I have been waiting so long to have you,” he says, entering me hard and rushed. “Oh…so worth the wait.”
I remain quiet, trying to push all thoughts out of my head. When his hands reach my ass, pulling me harder against him, the pleasure increases and everything disappears. He thrusts forcefully into me, whispering how good I feel. He may not have as many moves as others and he talks too much for my liking, but I’m enjoying how well-endowed he is.
The feeling builds inside of me; I love this part. All I feel is his touch while he pumps into me. As sweat starts slicking between us, I flip him over, straddling his body. I can no longer wait for him. He is going way too slow and I crave my release. Isn’t this what it’s all about?
“That’s what I’m talking about!” he says and smirks as I slide him back into me. I want to stick a sock in his throat. His talking is making it harder for me to find my relief.
He grabs my hips, trying to move me to his rhythm, but I pick up his hands and place them on my breasts so I can control the speed and rhythm. Five minutes later, my body shudders and I sink down on top of him.
“Fuck, Sadie. You’re awesome.” He moves to kiss me, but I climb off his body, pulling my dress back down.
I stand up to put my heels back on, but he grabs me from behind, bringing me closer to him. “Stay with me tonight,” he says, wrapping his arms around my waist.
“Okay,” I agree, crawling back on the bed. It is better than being alone. I hate being alone; it only makes me relive my mistakes.
He wraps his arms around me and I can smell the alcohol on his breath as his mouth rests close to my neck. The feeling of safety surrounds me and I drift off to sleep.

The next morning the light wakes me up, streaming into the small room and I find myself alone in a strange bed. I look around, trying to remember where I am and what I did. The dirty clothes overflowing in the hamper and the sports team paraphernalia on the wall tell me that I’m most likely in a frat house…again.
I tiptoe to get my shoes, hooking them in my hands. I slowly open the door, peering right and left down the hall. I see no one, so I quietly make my way down the stairs. It seems like the front door is a mile away and I can’t get through it fast enough. Just as my hand reaches the knob, I hear talking in the next room.
“I wouldn’t brag, Soren, I had her last week.” A deep voice laughs. “Actually, you might be the last to have her.”
“She a great lay though,” Jeff Soren says in return.
“I told you she was,” the other male agrees. “Ever since…the incident, she has become the college slut.”
“I know. It’s kind of sad though.” Jeff’s voice actually sounds concerned. “I wish…”
“Dude. You can’t save girls like that, you just enjoy what they give you,” the other voice replies back.
I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Mascara is stained in long lines down my face and my long, honey-colored hair looks like a bird made its home there. My lips are swollen red, and I can’t help but think I resemble a hooker on the corner waiting for her next trick.
I turn the knob to the door slowly, hoping Jeff and his buddy don’t hear me. I sneak out, walking across the street to my sorority house. I’m happy to find that everyone is either still asleep or out. When I crash into my bed, I take the picture out of my drawer that’s been hidden away since last year. I clutch it hard against my chest while sobs escape my mouth. Curling up into the fetal position on my twin bed, I can’t help but think how I have disappointed him. I need to change the direction of my life. Make him proud of me.

Author Bio:

Michelle Lynn has always been a reader, but her passion has become a full-blown addiction since her husband bought her a Kindle for Mother's Day. She's pretty sure that he regrets this on a regular basis. Especially when she has it propped up next to the stove while she cooks, which often results in a burnt dinner. Or when he loses sleep because the glow from the screen wakes him up when he rolls over at three in the morning. He does agree, however, that she uses this gift more than any other he has ever gotten her. She joking counters that, because of some of the steamy novels she reads, he also benefits more from this gift than any other he has gotten her. ;)

Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids. She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write. With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends. But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.
